Theory of Relativity
The word "relativity" derives from
the fact that the appearance of the world depends on our state of motion; it is
"relative.” The theory of relativity is in fact two
theories. The
special theory of relativity (1905). The general theory of relativity (1915). What is Time? The measured or measurable period during
which an action, process, or condition exists or continues. In the "Physics
of Time Travel" area you can study the basic physics and scientific views
on time and time travel. You will find information on relativity, quantum
mechanics, parallel universe theories, cosmology, gravitation, time machines,
and the people behind these views and vision. Theoretically it is, but
practically it has not yet been achieved What is Time
Travelling?
In
the "Physics of Time Travel" area you can study the basic physics and
scientific views on time and time travel. You will find information on
relativity, quantum mechanics, parallel universe theories, cosmology,
gravitation, time machines, and the people behind these views and vision. Speed: the Medium
for Time Travel
At
speeds close to the speed of light, time is lengthened and distancesare
shortened by a factor of the square root of (1 - v^2/c^2) where v is the speed,
and c is the speed of light. Gravitation and
Time Travelling
In
1916 Einstein gave the 2nd principle of relativity that as gravitational force
increases, the time gets lengthened i.e., it gets slowed down. Parallel
Universe The
interior of a charged or rotating black hole can "join up" with a
corresponding white hole in such a way that you can fall into the black hole and
pop out of the white hole. This combination of black and white holes is called a
wormhole. Rotating Cylinder
Model
A rotating cylinder model permits time travel
and communication not only to the future, but also to the past without violating
the laws of mathematics and physics, and also, shows how reverse time travel can
be achieved without having to travel faster than the speed of light. The rotating cylinder model is based on a conclusion of general
relativity that shows, rotation of matter causes a distortion in space-time,
which can become powerful enough to actually twist time around a rotating
cylinder Space-time Diagrams
A
common tool we use to discuss space-time is the space-time diagram. This diagram
plots the position of a particle as it moves through space-time. By connecting
all the plotted positions, a line called the "world line" of the
particle is created. Formation, Using
Rotating Cylinder Model
The best way to picture a rotating cylinder
would be to take a piece of material ten times the mass of the Sun and compress
it into a long, thin, super-dense cylinder. The rotating cylinder will spin along the vertical time axis shown in the
illustration. For Further Details
